RICOH and JAVA for Education

Hello people!

I’m actually working on a project for my university (Università di Padova).

From http://edu.ricoh-developer.com
“With
this Contest, Ricoh and co-sponsor Sun Microsystems aim to challenge
young developers to pioneer innovative Java™-based applications for
Ricoh’s Aficio™ multi-functional products (MFP). So this is your
opportunity to show off your programming skills to an international
audience of fellow students, universities and global IT companies. Next
to this, the eventual European winners will be rewarded with a trip to
the prestigious Sun JavaOne Conference 2006 in San Francisco, USA.”

They have made available an SDK and an Emulator of their platform. It’s all Java based.
I personally use Eclipse for developing, really better than the suggested Netbeans :-)
The documentation attached to the SDK really suck and it’s hard to develop things without loosing a bit of time searching things in a big set of PDF files…

I’m working on a Jabber client… Just for fun ;-)
